Title IX Accomplishments

This week, the House celebrated the accomplishments of Title IX. The legislation removed barriers to science and math education, and provided greater access to financial aid. More women than ever attend college and pursue advanced degrees and record numbers of women enjoy successful careers in fields such as business, law, and medicine that were formerly exclusively open to men. Because of Title IX, children growing up today in America know that they can pursue the educational and career paths of their choice regardless of their gender. Title IX has improved equality in women's athletics in high school and college. Equally important, those less tangible, is the message that Title IX sends to women and girls: Your education is crucial and your future is limitless. For our children, we must continue to support this belief by fulfilling and sustaining the promise of Title IX.
